College District Updates

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all campuses within the San Jose-Evergreen Community College District will continue with online instruction for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester, which ends on May 26. Also, commencement ceremonies for graduating students won’t be in-person and will instead occur virtually. Sixteen hundred students are expected to receive their degrees this year.

Professors from our main SJCC campus and the Milpitas Extension have been teaching remotely via Canvas, ConferZoom, and other platforms. The district has worked to ensure that all staff and faculty members, as well as students, have everything they require to continue the ever-evolving process of remote education.

Laptops, iPads, and webcams have been distributed to faculty and staff alike, and Chromebooks and Apple laptops have been distributed to students. More laptops and Chromebooks have also been ordered for additional employees and students in need of them.

At present, the custodial staff has been working diligently to disinfect all areas of the facilities, including classrooms, offices, labs, and common areas, so that our campuses are safe and healthy for all staff, faculty, and students to return to when the time is right.

There are plans to move forward with traditional in-person instruction in the summer, yet the district is monitoring the situation, and will adjust to online instruction, if necessary.
