A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF SJCC MILPITAS EXTENSION
Dear Milpitas Community,
I miss all of you during this time when the
community must separate in order to keep itself safe. I miss the college students arriving for class late in the afternoon. I miss the high school students filling the Extension with vitality. I miss all of the community events we enjoyed every week. I miss my SJCC, MUSD, and community colleagues. I look forward to the day we reopen the Extension.
Meanwhile, SJCC and the Extension staff have pivoted to offering as many services online as possible, and I am very proud of our efforts! The teaching faculty, academic counselors, and our enrollment coordinator are working with students online with many additional services becoming available to increase student and staff online access.
We continue to meet with all of our MUSD and Milpitas community partners, albeit remotely. I am getting good at remote meetings! We all have. Much like our students, the staff has had to learn how to survive and thrive in a new environment, which has called for relearning how to learn. We all have become students!
We are also looking toward the future. At this time, SJCC plans to offer college classes in person, likeprevious years; however, the schedule is subject to change. Please visit our website for the current summer schedule.
Of course, the college is also offering many, many courses online this summer, and the Extension plans to provide support onsite for online students. We are also planning our summer workshops, camps, and events for younger students. More to follow as we get closer to summer.
I look forward to the day when we reopen our doors to serve the community once again! In the meantime, stay safe. Please enjoy our stories and feel free to contact me if you have questions or just want to say, “Hello.”
